In 1926, Clyde Beck was twenty-six year old when he broke into the majors playing infield for the Chicago Cubs. He played in only 30 games that season and ended up with a .198 batting average. In 1927, he played mostly second base and improved his batting average to .258 in 117 games. The following season, he move two third base and played in 131 game and got 124 hits and 58 base on balls acquiring a batting average of .257. Norm McMillan was picked up from the St. Louis Browns and took over most of the duties at third base in 1929. Clyde played in only 54 games and his batting average fell to .211.

Clyde played one more seasons for the Cubs and played in 83 games. He was picked up off of waivers by the Cincinnati Reds in January 1931. That ended up to be his last season playing for a major league team capping a six year career with a .232 lifetime batting average.
