I first became aware and interested in Woody English in 1998, unfortunately one year after he had passed away. I was bar tending at a brew pub in Newark, Ohio which brew a porter named Woody English Porter. The brew pub was next to Route 16 which runs east-west through Newark and is named "Woody English Parkway." A section of one wall had a group of pictures of Woody and newspaper articles describing Woody's life. Occasionally on Saturday afternoons, an elderly couple, which had made most of the wall-hangings, would come in for a bite to eat and reminisce about their dear friend, Woody. I would listen with interest and admiration how a young fellow who grew up in this area became one of the best baseball players of his time. Unfortunately, I have forgotten their names and after the brew pub was closed I have never crossed paths with that couple again.

Great News! Frank Cromer has produced a DVD that contains an interview with Woody with many interesting stories and pictures. The button on the left leads to a page with more information, a preview and a link to purchase the DVD.
